1. Phoenix Art Family Fundays:

Immerse yourself in a day of artistic exploration and family-friendly fun at the Phoenix Art Museum. This special access day invites visitors of all ages to engage with captivating arts programming suitable for everyone, regardless of interests or abilities. For over six decades, the Phoenix Art Museum has been a beacon of cultural enrichment in the Valley, offering reduced or free admission opportunities as a gesture of gratitude to the community. Step into a world of creativity and imagination as you explore the museum’s diverse collection and participate in hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and inspire creativity. From interactive art installations to engaging workshops, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Experience the joy of discovery with your loved ones at the Phoenix Art Museum and cultivate a lifelong love of art together!

  • Additional Information: Parking at the Museum is available in the underground parking garage, nearby parking lots, and street parking. Be aware that fees may apply, so it’s advisable to check the museum’s website or contact them directly for current parking rates and availability. Some special events offer discounted or validated parking. 
  • Other ways to save: Visitors can enjoy free admission on the first Saturday and Sunday of each month through the Museums on Us program and free admission for Maricopa Community College students through MC3@PAM. Pay-What-You-Wish Wednesdays offer free general admission to all visitors

2. Grand Canyon National Park Free Entrance Days:

Celebrate National Park Week at Grand Canyon National Park with plenty of activities and programs suitable for visitors of all ages. From cultural demonstrations highlighting traditional crafts to ranger-led programs exploring the natural wonders of the canyon, there’s something for everyone to enjoy amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Grand Canyon.

  • Additional Information: Entrance fees to Grand Canyon National Park and other participating Park Service sites in Arizona are waived during National Park Week, with some additional fees still applicable. An Earth Day celebration will take place on April 22. Due to the popularity of National Park Week, visitors should plan ahead. Cultural Demonstrations by skilled artisans, including Marvene Dawahoya – Hopi Basket Weaver and Nuvadi Dawahoya – Hopi Kachina Carver, will be held at Desert View Watchtower. 

3. Gold Palette ArtWalk - Small Works, Big Talent:

The Scottsdale Gallery Association presents the Small Works, Big Talent event, showcasing exhibitions highlighting the small works of amazing artists within the Scottsdale Arts District. Guests can enjoy live entertainment, refreshments, and opportunities to meet artists while exploring the galleries. The event features themed exhibitions by participating Scottsdale Gallery Association members, highlighting small works by talented artists.

  • Additional Information: While admission is free, attendees may find refreshments available for purchase and vendors selling merchandise to enhance the experience. For those driving to the event, ample free parking is conveniently located in a City of Scottsdale underground parking garage, for additional parking keep an eye out for the blue parking sign along Marshall Way. To add to the festivities, complimentary wine tastings are often offered during these events, providing extra enjoyment to your artistic adventure.

4. Free Nature Walk at Liberty Wildlife:

Embark on a journey to discover the natural wonders of Arizona with a free guided nature walk hosted by Liberty Wildlife and the City of Phoenix Park Rangers. Explore the Peace Trail at the Rio Salado and learn about the area’s rich history as an urban wildlife zone. Led by knowledgeable guides, participants will have the opportunity to observe native wildlife, learn about local plant species, and gain insights into conservation efforts such as the Rio Reimagined project.

  • Additional Information: The nature walk covers approximately 2 miles and takes about 90 minutes, depending on wildlife sightings and group pace. Participants are advised to bring a refillable water bottle, sturdy shoes suitable for walking, and binoculars or cameras for wildlife observation. The nature walk is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, offering an educational and enjoyable experience for nature enthusiasts and families alike. Not included is admission to Liberty Wildlife’s open house from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

5. Stargazing at ADERO Scottsdale Resort:

Experience the mesmerizing night sky at ADERO Scottsdale Resort, nestled within a certified Dark Sky Zone—an unparalleled celestial retreat. Utilize high-definition telescopes provided by the resort to marvel at the galaxy and celestial phenomena, offering a glimpse into the wonders of the cosmos. With the expertise of local astronomers, the “Star Dudes”, guests can embark on an enlightening journey through the night sky, spotting major constellations and deep-sky objects. Whether you’re a seasoned stargazer or a curious novice, this Friday night event promises an unforgettable celestial adventure.

  • Date: Every Friday Night
  • Time: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
  • Additional Information: Telescopes and binoculars will be provided. Parking at the resort is complimentary for guests and visitors attending the Stargazing event. As the event location varies depending on the night sky, guests are advised to contact the resort’s front desk via email at info@aderoscottsdale.com for specific details and location information. This free event is open to both resort guests and the public. For optimal viewing, it’s recommended to arrive early and dress comfortably for outdoor stargazing. Telescopes and binoculars will be provided, and knowledgeable assistance from local astronomers will be available to guide guests through the celestial wonders. Please note that event details may be subject to change, so it’s advisable to confirm the event specifics with the resort before your visit.

6. Arizona Water Awareness Month Festival:

Join the Arizona Water Awareness Month Festival to learn about water conservation and the importance of water sustainability in Arizona. Explore educational exhibits, games, workshops, and interactive activities aimed at raising awareness about water resources. With plenty of activities, and vendors the is plenty of fun for visitors of all ages.

  • Date: Satuday April 6, 2024
  • Time: 10:00 am- 2:00 pm
  • Additional Information: It is advisable to arrive early to secure parking and beat the crowds. Remember to bring plenty of water and sunscreen to stay hydrated and protected from the sun, as conservation and safety are top priorities of the event. In addition, enjoy live entertainment, indulge in delicious offerings from food vendors, and participate in family-friendly activities throughout the day, including prizes and giveaways.

7. Solar Eclipse Viewing Party:

The Arizona Science Center will celebrate the solar eclipse with another sun-national Viewing Party. Witness the captivating dance of the Moon and the Sun and stay afterward to delve into the intriguing science behind this cosmic event. Explore solar telescopes, engage in hands-on activities exploring solar and eclipse science, and interact with local experts—all available FREE to the public! Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the wonders of the universe.

  • Date: Monday, April 8th, 2024
  • Time: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Additional Information:  To ensure proper eye protection, the Science Center will provide eclipse glasses to all Guests. To allow Guests to view the full event. The center will open early at 9:00 a.m. The partial solar eclipse begins at 10:08 a.m., hits its maximum at 11:20 a.m., and ends at 12:35 p.m. Phoenix will receive 64% coverage. We strongly encourage all Guests to arrive early to avoid missing the eclipse.

8. Great Paper Airplane Fly-Off:

One of the community’s best free events for families. They offer both family and individual Kids compete to throw the farthest paper airplane and win amazing prizes. Each contestant will build and throw their paper airplane in three age groups. The top three from each group will receive 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes.

  • Additional Information: Registration is required to participate. Family competition signup is closed. Each contestant will receive free admission with up to four guests. You can register on the Pira Air and Space Museum website. There is plenty of parking available at the museum even for those with RV’s.

9. Farmers Markets:

Indulge in the vibrant community atmosphere and fresh flavors awaiting you at Farmers Markets across the state. Explore an array of locally sourced produce, artisanal goods, and handcrafted treasures, all while supporting local farmers and vendors. From seasonal fruits and vegetables to artisan cheeses and freshly baked bread, these markets offer a delightful feast for the senses. Whether you’re seeking culinary inspiration or simply looking to connect with your community, a visit to the Farmers Market promises a rewarding experience that celebrates local flavors and fosters community connections.

  • Location: Various locations Statewide.
  • Additional Information: Parking for these types of events is typically free. Wear a comfortable pair of walking shoes and remember to bring along your reusable bags to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainable shopping practices. 
  • Featured Markets: Saturday Market at Arrowhead, Downtown Mesa Farmers Market, Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market, Heritage Night Market, Uptown Farmers Market.

10. First Friday Events:

Experience the vibrant arts scene of Phoenix with First Friday events, a beloved tradition that takes place on the first Friday of every month. From 6 pm onwards, various locations across the city come alive with art exhibitions, live performances, food trucks, and more. Whether you’re exploring the eclectic galleries and boutiques or strolling through Phoenix’s downtown there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Join locals and visitors alike in celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of Phoenix through this dynamic and immersive art experience.

  • Additional Information: When attending First Friday events in Phoenix, it’s advisable to check the times and locations of your specific event online, as they may vary. While parking at each event is typically free, you should verify this information.
